This cup is 10 cm high, and made from a high fired brown pottery. It is thin-walled with a rounded base. The surface is heavily encrusted due to long burial.
The surface is inscribed with geometric patterns and dots, The ear and the cup fit perfectly in your hand.
The shape is almost identical to a black paste Longshan cup from the National Palace Museum Taiwan. This brown paste one seems to fit the quote William Watson made in Ancient China:
The surface of the more refined pieces remained undecorated, but the
grey and the coarse, sandy earthenware is incised or stamped with
ornaments of a simple geometric sort.
