This is a high fired stoneware bowl from with a grey/white body. Covered in a Celadon glaze, and incised with a lotus flower theme. This bowl comes from the Jepara shipwreck, found  in the north Java Sea, Indonesia near Jepara Town in Middle Java Province. The wreck has been dated to circa 13th century through Chinese coin dates and stylistic analysis of ceramics.

2016-02-13 14.32.38 These bowls were produced in Fujian province (possibly south-Zhejiang) for the export. Produced in Tong’an, Anxi, Nan’an, and Putian kilns. These Fujian bowls were cheaper than the Longquan celadons, and massively exported for every day use.
