This figure was made during the Northern Wei dynasty 386-534 AD. I bought him from a Belgian collector, who bought it from a know dealer in England in 2005.

The proud standing man is beautiful, although he has a little bit of
a belly. He is 26 cm high and is made of a grey clay. The figure was
cold painted with white slip and he has a red robe on, with yellow
scarf. There are two holes where he probably held wooden objects.
There are nice details like his elongated ears, the belt and his
hair-do.

What sets the Wei figurines apart from the Tang, is the shape of the feet. They are large feet who make it possible for the figures to stand on themselves without a base.
