Pottery Dou, Eastern Zhou dynasty / Warring States period (475–221 B.C.).

This pottery Dou shaped piece is a nice example of this type of shape. Although it is damaged, and restored. 2015-04-27 11.06.21  I could not improve much on the old and crude restoration, because it was not reversible.2015-04-27 11.06.34  Still a lovely object to study, for example for the interesting paint/pattern.2015-04-27 11.06.59  For a similar piece look into the Metropolitan museum website for Accession Number: 50.61.9a, b2015-04-27 11.07.47

  1. I agree. This is an very interesting piece. I have a small Han vase with an almost identical painted pattern near the top and ribbed sides. Mine just narrows at the bottom with no footed base, otherwise the pieces are very similar. Its cool to find another similar to mine. I knew it was unusual.
