Han pilgrim’s flask

This sturdy pottery flask is from a grey pottery that is typical for the Han dynasty. It is a burial item,and represents a pilgrim’s bottle.

_mg_1556 The interesting thing is that this shape can not be from a potter’s wheel,so it is hand built.  It is very well done, on not very thick walled.

_mg_1557 The result is a fine piece of pottery, with sculptural qualities.

_mg_1556-1 Nice signs of age like root markings, and soil encrustation.
