Tang Guangdong martaban

I found this jar at a local monday market. It is 22cm, reddish stoneware, quite heavy for it’s size due to sturdy potting. These jar were used for several storage purposes. This is a smaller type. It is made in Guangdong province during the Tang dynasty. Many of them were exported, and similar vases were found a.o. in Indonesia (Belitung wreck) Large vases were also used to store ceramics.
