Tang kneeling figure

A yellow glazed kneeling figure, 13 cm., white pottery.  Kneeling was part of the rites of Zhou. The kneeling as a greet (kongshou) has three stages, and this one depicts stage three, the deepest bow.

A similar example can be found in the Henan museum. That one is from a Tang tomb in Guanyao village, Luoyang. Similar models can be found in the book The pottery figurines in Luoyang by Yu Lianngen and Zhou Li.
